On November 7, 2015 I had the privilege to meet Veronica Granatiero and Gianni Cucinello with the Suoni del Sud Orchestra.
Suoni del Sud translates to the “Sounds of the South”. This wonderful orchestra is composed of musicians from Puglia, mostly Foggia, and includes violins, violas, clarinet, oboe, horn, sax, piano, guitars, drums, bass, and keyboards, among others. They were recently here in Canada for the show “Italy in the Heart” at the Avalon Theatre of Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort, which is a prestigious stage for world-class artists.
Veronica Granatiero’s repertoire ranges from jazz to pop, Italian and international, as well as opera, and sang at the Conservatory Umberto Giordano of Foggia under the guidance of the mezzo-soprano Angela Bonito.
Gianni Cuciniello is the esteemed music director of the Suoni del Sud Orchestra.
