“Ciao Linda, My name is Silvana – born & raised in Sydney but of Calabrese descent….and a very proud one at that. Just saw your post appear on my newsfeed & have to say I love it…..In 2013, my husband & I spent 5 amazing weeks in Italy and I was immediately smitten as it was my first visit there. To be hones, I can’t get Italy out of my head & long to return there one day very soon. We spent 3 weeks in Calabria – Roccella Jonica (my m.i.law’s birth place) was our base, whilst we visited my beautiful cousins half an hour’s drive away in Cinquefrondi/Polistena…my parents birth places. It’s sp nice to read someone else’s positive opinion on what Calabria has to offer as it really is the “forgotten” region of Italy. I guess Italy’s lack of infrastructure in that region is partly to blame for tourist’s by-passing the amazing mountains, rustic surrounds & pristine waters….especially those of the Ionian Coast. Totally agree that it could be a carbon copy of the Caribbean….So important tp hold onto our roots & heritage so your post really caught my attention & as I mentioned earlier, I would love to see more. Looking forward to hearing from you very soon. Kind regards, Silvana”
